Classic Home is a manufacturer of high end home furniture. Traditionally, Classic Home sold its product to dealers and furniture retailers through its printed catalog and physical showroom. Sales transactions took place over the phone and customers were introduced to new products only when a new catalog was introduced or they made a personal visit to the showroom. Meanwhile, competitors were making their catalogs available through the Web, creating a convenient and timely way to merchandise products to customers. Classic Home needed to move in this direction too but wanted to take their customer's online experience one step further by giving them the opportunity to place orders through the Web site without needing to talk to a representative. Since many dealers spend working hours on the floor selling product, ordering inventory and scouting new product lines often gets pushed to off hours . By creating a fully automated ecommerce system, Classic Home customers could order product on demand, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Tridian's Ecommerce Development Process
First Classic Home needed a high end look and feel that effectively showcased their beautiful line of furniture. Tridian met with the Classic Home team to determine design tastes and goals. Tridian applied its highly modified version of the popular open source shopping cart, OSCommerce, to the Classic Home ecommerce platform. The base version of OSCommerce offers a a flexible product catalog system and adequate back end administration tools. Over the years Tridian has invested heavily in upgrading this base version of OSCommerce to include rich online marketing functionality such as search engine friendly product urls, coupons, gift-certificates, integration with Google's Froogle shopping search tool, a customer loyalty program with rewards points, layout flexibility for effective product merchandising, and enhanced sales reporting tools. Tridian further modified its shopping cart to support Classic Home's wholesale business requirements.

Today Classic Home's ecommerce system is a vital part of its day to day operations.
